Background: I purchased this accordion from Joe Petosa at his store in the University District of Seattle, in 1978, trading back the "ladies" acoustical accordion I bought there about three years earlier. My
small hands were trained to reach a full (piano) octave, so over-reaching had been a constant problem. Not so for this new, full sized one! He described it then as a special Heirloom model, one of only five made. In Italy.
Expertise: None. I am not a musician. Never was, but made it through ten years of classical piano training (at my mother's insistance). Accordion was my dream. I located a teacher of accordion and took lessons. I did enjoy learning, and found relief from daily life / job stress via this awesome "squeeze-box" so much fun to play! I have not touched it for maybe 15 years. If it were an automobile, it would be a 'low mileage' one for sure! It's always been stored inside the house room temperature never mishandled never "loaned out".
Condition:
IF indeed the electronics have failed, then I would again liken this to an automobile, where a preserved item of historic significance might well be worth some restoring, reinvesting, and/or reinventing. I believe Petosa Accordions could do a fantastic job of it! It is a beautiful accordion!
Price: Asking $3200 ** USD for everything (see photos). Must pickup in Sedro-Woolley, Washington State, USA. I find myself too soon old and weak to lift it sadly, it's time for me to let it go. Payment accepted easily and securely via PayPal ... Email Me
** (I'd take $1500 for everything if it would go to a very good home.)
(Yes, it is acoustic as well as electronic. No, I do not know if the electronic part still works nor do I recall exactly how to connect the cables to the tone chamber. Everything is too heavy for me to lift now days.)
